Nic & Luc’s Scratch Kitchen – Longwood, FL

Sometimes you stumble on a great place right in your own backyard and then wonder how you’ve missed it all this time.

Nic & Luc’s Scratch Kitchen was like that for us.

Awesome food, great people.

We were hungry for brunch on a rainy Saturday morning. Instead of hitting our usual spot we decided to try a place that had come up in a recent online search – Nic and Luc’s. The information on their site and all the 5-star reviews sounded good so we set out to explore.

Google maps guided us to the Shoppes at Village Square, just a mile or so from us. We’d never noticed it before and had to look to find it. But there it was, across from the paint store and right next to the Euro-Balkan grocery.

We stepped inside to find decor that one reviewer described as ‘Scandi’ – simple and uncluttered.

The menu was intriguing, with many items that look both healthy and delicious. It was hard to choose but we found menu items that sounded great.

Scratch-made jams that are hot or sweet or both!

While we waited for our food, Aurora (one of the owners) graciously offered a tasting of some of their jams. It’s no surprise that two jars followed us home. They’re that good.

The food is freshly prepared, absolutely full of flavor, and – get this – healthy! Based on the clean eating concept, the menu contains numerous tempting entries. Fresh herbs and vegetables dance happily throughout each dish, something that you don’t often find in brunch food.

Bananas Foster French Toast
The absolutely best french toast ever – Banana’s Foster French Toast. I’m getting hungry for it while posting this.

We keep coming back to try various menu items. We have yet to find anything less than totally delicious.

We’re now Nic & Luc’s regulars.
